We are seeking an innovative technical leader with expertise in T-cell biology and immunology who can apply that expertise to lead a team of Process Scientists to develop next generation T-cell manufacturing platforms within our exciting, growth-stage company.


The successful candidate will possess an in-depth understanding of in-vitro / in-vivo T-cell functionality, process & product characterization, and cell manufacturing and analytical technology as well as a demonstrated capability in using that knowledge to develop breakthrough cell processing innovations.



  • Apply expertise in T-cell biology, immunology, and cell process technology to lead the development of novel technologies and processes for cell therapy manufacturing and product characterization including:

a. Optimization of  T-cell isolation, enrichment, activation, and expansion processes.

b. Development and implementation of gene-editing and viral and non-viral transduction methods

c. Application of analytical technologies and tools to improve process efficiency and therapeutic         outcomes. 

  • Identify talent and recruit, develop, manage and mentor a highly skilled team of process scientists.

  • Work cross-functionally with the integrated program team to support IND enabling activities and to   incorporate process & correlative science insights into development programs.

  • Establish strong relationships and collaborate closely with the University of Pennsylvania and other partner institutions to transition process research activities to Tmunity and to conduct ongoing joint development activities.

  • Evaluate new technologies and business development opportunities to support the development of novel engineered T-cell therapies.

  • Contribute to company IP creation / generation strategies.

  • Support company BD&L activities.

  • Represent company in Scientific Meetings and Congress settings.

  • Provide clear and concise documentation of all experimental studies and results.  Author and review technical and scientific documents including but not limited to SOPs, study protocols and technical reports.

Basic Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Immunology, Cell Biology or a closely related field

  • Minimum 10 years of academic and life sciences industrial experience with a demonstrated track record in cell therapy product and process development

  • Extensive experience with cell culture methods, viral and non-viral transduction techniques, and various gene editing tools and technologies

  • Hands-on proficiency in flow cytometry, immunological assays and cell biology analytical techniques

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, collaborative, small company environment, working with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to collaborate with and effectively influence others. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience authoring CMC sections of regulatory documents

  • Working knowledge of Quality Systems and Regulatory requirements

  • Familiarity with statistical software applications (e.g. Minitab, JMP)


  • Fulltime, based in East Norriton, PA

  • Will require travel to Tmunity offices in Philadelphia and U Penn

  • Will require 10% travel out of state as part of duties with partners and conference attendance
